Kaiju tab removal
why should the kaiju tag be removed? I think its perfectly reasonable to have real prehistoric creatures under the kaiju tag due to the context of the movies they appear in--Zillaman98 (talk) 16:24, 26 October 2021 (UTC)
- While you may be right, I would argue that these are animals, not kaiju. They portray an animal that existed rather than Godzillasaurus or Titanosaurus.--VaderRaptor (talk) 16:26, 26 October 2021 (UTC)
- While they may be real animals i feel due to how they are potrayed in these types of films its fair to have them under the kaiju/monster tag due to managing to exist outside of their time period of when they died off and because how they are portrayed in the respective pieces of selected media on the site.--Zillaman98 (talk)
- "Context of the movies they appear in" is the caveat I had forgotten about when I removed T-rex from that category. The Brontosaurus in the original King Kong doesn't behave anything like the real animal would have, for instance.--Astounding Beyond Belief (talk) 16:39, 26 October 2021 (UTC)
- Is Brontosaurus still considered real anymore anyways? The bronto in KK 33 acted like a predator didn't it, another example I got is the Elasmosaurus in the same movie acted like a snake and could constrict and crawl on land when we know the real animal couldnt.--Zillaman98 (talk) 16:41, 26 October 2021 (UTC)
The Lost World Tyrannosaurus
- In the past, I've always assumed the dinosaur that fights the Agathaumas and Pteranodon as well as the Brontosaurus in the volcano scene is a Tyrannosaurus while the large theropod in the rest of the film, including the Brontosaurus scene near the cliff which the picture was showing was an Allosaurus. However, I realised after moving the picture that I'm actually not 100% sure since they have very similar designs in the film and I'm not sure if either is identified at any point. I'm not entirely sure what to do about this situation and what the file should be called though I don't think we should have it in the history section either way because it's getting overcrowded with pictures imo. Just saying this in case anyone is confused/disagrees with me.-Titanozilla2023 (talk) 13:23, 25 January 2025 (UTC)

- The synopsis for the film in The Making of King Kong (1976) states, "[The characters] are menaced by various monsters, particularly by the meat-eating Allosaurs that infest the jungle. These beasts are seen killing and feeding on Trachodons, Triceratopses, Monocloniuses and Stegosaurs. The Brontosaur is attacked by an allosaur and falls from the edge of the plateau into a pool." There is no mention of tyrannosaurs. As an aside, the same book also says of The Ghost of Slumber Mountain, "Then a gigantic flightless bird, Diatryma, enters the scene and devours a large snake. Jack next sees two Triceratopses engage in furious combat. The victor is attacked in turn by a flesh-eating Allosaurus, which kills and begins devouring the three-horned beast." Neither Diatryma nor Allosaurus are mentioned on our page for that movie.
- Hot Blooded Dinosaur Movies (1993) says, "An Allosaurus attacks a duck-billed dinosaur and then tries to attack a family of Triceratops, but that time the carnivore is driven off by the armored dinosaur and its spiked horn. [...] When the ill-tempered Allosaur attacks yet another dinosaur, an Agathaumas, it is finally killed when the sharp horn on this creature gores the Allosaurus. But no sooner is the Agathaumas triumphant than a Tyrannosaur happens on the scene and slays that creature, being that it is larger and more powerful tha[n] the Allosaur, although equally bad-tempered." It also describes the star of Slumber Mountain as an Allosaurus.
- I don't know if those are particularly helpful (I'm not very familiar with the movie, but they sound contradictory), but they're at least some data points. --Les (main | talk) 19:45, 25 January 2025 (UTC)
