Godzooky (ゴズーキー is a juvenile Gozūkī)monster that appeared in the 1978-1979 Hanna-Barbera television series Godzilla. A relative of Godzilla, he primarily serves as the show's comic relief.
Design
Godzooky closely resembles his larger relative, Godzilla, sharing his bipedal reptilian build with a green body and a row of rounded spikes along his back. Godzooky's body is a lighter, more saturated shade of green compared to Godzilla's, while his back spikes are darker and proportionally larger but lack the two smaller prongs Godzilla's have. His head is large and he doesn't appear to have any teeth, while his neck is somewhat long and thin. Godzooky's body is pudgy compared to Godzilla's, and the muscles in his upper body are less developed. Godzooky's most distinctive trait are the two small wings under his forearms, the undersides of which are a desaturated yellowish-green while the top sides are the same color as his body.
Origins
Godzooky is a juvenile monster related to Godzilla who had gotten stuck in a coral reef before being rescued by the crew of the scientific research vessel Calico. This gesture allowed the team to befriend Godzilla, who began protecting the ship and its crew when Godzooky chose to stay with them.[1]

Godzilla
As a companion to the crew of the Calico, Godzooky became involved in a great many of their adventures. Often accompanying Pete, the nephew of the ship's scientist Dr. Quinn, the young kaiju frequently encountered perils exploring the world. More than once the youth wound up startling guests aboard the Calico, who wouldn't have expected to see a young kaiju aboard. Often he'd wound up in trouble when his scrappy nature would lead to him attempting to protect his human friends by confronting dangers too big for him to handle. When such situations arose and Captain Majors couldn't summon Godzilla with his signalling device, Godzooky could call up his larger cousin with his cries. A few times Godzooky would attempt to fly into an active battle between Godzilla and another monster. While this often just resulted in the exasperation of the Calico crew and Godzilla himself, who'd rather sternly warn his younger relative to get out of harm's way, a few times the crew would use him to communicate with Godzilla to tell the heroic kaiju about an Achilles' heel they'd discovered about their current enemy.
Abilities
Flight
By flapping the wings on his arms, Godzooky can fly with a surprising amount of grace given his proportions. He is capable of making complex turns, high speeds, and hovering.
Strength
In "The Seaweed Monster", Godzooky used his tail like a rudder to increase his swimming speed when rescuing Quinn from the aforementioned Seaweed Monster. In "Island of Doom", Godzooky bent steel bars to escape a tower to summon Godzilla.
Smoke breath
Similar to Minilla, Godzooky can release streams of smoke rings from his mouth, which are black in color and often makes him cough.
Fire breath
In "The Beast of Storm Island", Godzooky was temporarily able to breath fire after being enhanced by the Lazarus Well, which Axor reacted to in a similar manner to Godzilla's own fire breath.
Roar
Godzooky has the ability to summon his relative Godzilla, even over great distances, by roaring loudly. Godzooky has also roared at other monsters to intimidate them; the only time this succeeded was against a single Giant Ant.
Weaknesses
The strength and fire breath Godzooky gained in "The Beast of Storm Island" were merely temporary enhancements. In "Valley of the Giants", Godzooky breathed out so much smoke he emptied the smoke reserves in his body and was exhausted. Godzilla isn't always able to hear Godzooky's calls, such as when they were muffled by the hull of Kazmiya Voltrang's ship and when Godzooky was interred in COBRA's prison tower, which was too far from the ocean for Godzilla to hear.

Trivia
- Despite Hanna-Barbera owning the rights to the character, Godzooky does not reappear with the rest of the Calico crew in the 1999 bumper Godzilla vs. Y2K Bug, likely due to his relation with Godzilla.
- The wing of a plush toy of Godzooky is briefly shown in episode 6 of Godzilla Singular Point, sitting alongside plushes of Godzilla, the Giant Turtle, and Komodithrax and her egg from Godzilla: The Series.
