- Main article: Anguirus#Name.
Anguirus's Japanese name, Angirasu (アンギラス), comes from the Japanese spelling of the name of the dinosaur genus Ankylosaurus (アンキロサウルス, upon which the monster's design is based. The name was chosen from several names proposed by employees of Ankirosaurusu)Toho during production of Godzilla Raids Again.
Anguirus is referred to as "Anguillas" in one of Godzilla-kun's speech bubbles in episode 12, "Fly to the Cliff!", though the episode's official English subtitles refer to him by his trademarked name "Anguirus" instead during this encounter.
Design
Anguirus appears reminiscent of the Second Generation Anguirus but with yellow-brown skin, a more frill-like set of horns, brown eyes, more bone-like protrusions through his carapace and face, tiny claws, and a strictly quadrupedal stance.

Origins
Anguirus is one of the many inhabitants of Godzi Godzi Island and is initially theorized by Young Serizawa to be a member of the Ankylosauria genus of before his interactions with the Three Godzilla Brothers make him realize Anguirus and the other inhabitants of the island are monsters rather than dinosaurs. "Secret Training Dojo"
Shortly after departing for the secret training dojo in the Dongara Mountains, the three Godzilla brothers encountered Anguirus. Godzilla-kun and Anguirus began speaking to each other using speech bubbles about what the trio were doing though Godzilla-kun refused to reveal the secret to him.
Anguirus later approached the three Godzilla brothers while they were feasting on bananas, confusing Godzilla-kun until he realised he simply wanted to join in the feast, being allowed to do so.
"Secret Move: Dropkick!"
Anguirus noticed Godzilla-kun, Minilla and Little stuck on a boulder rolling up and down in a half-pipe, with Moshu-Moshu playing on the same half-pipe. Puzzled, Anguirus held a question-mark sign to show his confusion.
"Run On, Godzilla Brothers!"
Anguirus and Baragon appeared to join in the footrace the three Godzilla brothers had organised, both boasting that they would win since they were four-legged as opposed to two-legged like the brothers. Anguirus was pitted against Godzilla-kun, Baragon against Little and Moshu-Moshu against Minilla. While racing, Godzilla-kun and Anguirus silently communicated using speech bubbles but were easily overtaken by Moshu-Moshu who even turned around to return to the starting line. Anguirus and Godzilla-kun returned to the starting line themselves where Godzilla-kun admitted his exhaustion to Anguirus, who was unfazed by the race.
The six of them decided to do another race to a flag on top of a hill and where they would all start at the same time. Anguirus was able to keep up with Godzilla-kun, Little and Baragon but all four were easily overtaken by Moshu-Moshu who surpassed them all despite getting Minilla to ride on her back. They eventually arrived at the flag only to see Minilla and Moshu-Moshu already there, stunning them all.
"Land of Fire: Aso, Kumamoto Edition"
Anguirus was heard roaring in response to a question posed by Grandpa Hedo about giant monster battles.
"Fly to the Cliff!"
Anguirus approached the Three Godzilla Brothers as they prepared for a training session and told them that he had found a mysterious egg on the side of a cliff. As Godzilla-kun decided to change the day's training to climbing the cliff where the egg is located, he asked Anguirus to guide them to the location. He led them to the cliff and pointed to the egg on top of it, with Godzilla-kun asking him to climb the cliff before they did and Anguirus attempted to do so but fell off. As he fell off, Anguirus accidently curled up into a ball and rolled down the cliff towards the Three Godzilla Brothers and so the three had to evade him, jumping to the side as he came close. Anguirus continued rolling towards a palm tree, which bent backwards and acted as a catapult, launching him back right in front of the trio.
All four of them then attempted to climb the cliff but Anguirus fell off and rolled into a ball once again, this time missing the forest where the palm tree had been and disappearing into the distance. The three failed to climb the cliff but took inspiration from the first time Anguirus had fallen and used the palm tree to launch them towards the cliff.
"Godzilla Fest 2019 Show"
Though Anguirus did not appear in the Godziban performance that took place during the 2019 Godzilla Fest, his puppet and a photo of him did appear in the opening montage of the episode.
"He Came From Outer Space"
Anguirus was mentioned as a friend of the Three Godzilla Brothers when Minilla and Little question the purpose of their training. After Gigan arrived in a meteor from outer space and he attacked Baragon when the monster misunderstood Gigan's words, the cyborg interrupted Anguirus's daily rolling practice and demanded Anguirus fight him though Anguirus misinterpreted his words as a rolling contest. Gigan explained himself but Anguirus replied that it is not good to fight, enraging Gigan to the point of stabbing the ankylosaur monster.
"G vs. G / I Am Godzilla-kun!"
Injured following Gigan attacking him, Anguirus and Baragon crawled over to Godzilla-kun and informed him of the monster. Godzilla-kun woke up and left to find Gigan, finding the cyborg attacking his brother Little.
After Gigan fell into a hole dug by Baragon during his fight with Godzilla-kun, Anguirus paved over it to imprison him. Anguirus then joked to Godzilla-kun, Little and Baragon that he hoped that Gigan had simply left to go back to outer space when Godzilla-kun was confused as to where Gigan went, having not noticed Gigan falling into the hole.
"The Godzilla Who Came on Christmas Eve!"
Anguirus and Baragon acted as reindeer for Grandpa Zilla, one of the many Santas who deliver presents. The three left with the Three Godzilla Brothers to deliver presents to children who like monsters, flying through the air towards Japan, though they first had to rescue Kamachi and allow him to recover from the sickness caused to him by living in the human world, successfully doing so.
"Fly Towards the Future!"
When Godzilla-kun attempted to fight the colossal King Ghidorah to protect Minilla and Radon, Anguirus showed up as part of a monster army to assist Godzilla-kun made up of the following monsters: Anguirus, Radon, Minilla, Little, Moshu-Moshu, Baragon, Gorosaurus, Manda, Kumonga and Varan. Anguirus announced that they were there to help Godzilla-kun fight the menace and the army charged towards King Ghidorah.
"Film the Dream!"
While filming a movie, the Three Godzilla Brothers came across Anguirus sleeping and started to film him for their project. As they started filming, it became apparent in a visible thought bubble that Anguirus was dreaming about him and Godzilla-kun sharing a bowl of fruit together. They continued to film as the episode ended.
"Three Giant Monsters: The Hungriest One on Earth"
After Godzilla-kun, Moshu-Moshu and Rodan were able to force King Ghidorah into a retreat, Anguirus shared Rodan's basket of fruit with Godzilla-kun, Moshu-Moshu, Minilla and Little, with Anguirus in particular eating a watermelon slice.
"Gigan, Troubled!"
Anguirus appeared in flashbacks showing both Anguirus's defeat at Gigan's claws as well as him rolling over the hole that Gigan later fell into.
"Go! Miracle Tail Shot"
Anguirus appears in an interstitial moment in which he and Godzilla-kun remind the audience that the ball in a soccer match is a friend.
"A Tragic Dissonance"
While wandering through the jungle of Godzi Godzi Island after being shipwrecked, Young Serizawa spotted Anguirus walking and wondered if he was a member of the Ankylosauria genus of dinosaurs and followed him as he congregated with his friends Baragon and Gorosaurus, with the three discussing their lack of dialogue via speech bubbles.
"Mystery on the Beach"
The Three Godzilla Brothers and Young Serizawa passed by Anguirus, Baragon and Gorosaurus congregating once again to discuss their lack of line via speech bubbles, with the three of them choosing to instead follow Anguirus's suggestion of climbing up a hill and roaring as loud as they can.
"The Xilien Who Turned Red"

"Bring Them to Life! Let's Play with the Three Godzilla Brothers"
Anguirus appeared as part of a crowd of monsters alongside Bashu-Bashu, Mechagodzilla, Gorosaurus, Radon, Rodan, Baragon, Ebirah, Miyarabi, Gezora and Maguma to watch the film the Three Godzilla Brothers had made. The film initially started without incident until Lei Lei suddenly crashed the premiere with her pawn Monster Zero and set him loose to attack everyone, with Anguirus being one of the monsters subjected to his gravity beams. Anguirus attempted to regroup with Godzilla-kun to fight the menace but thankfully the Shobijin appeared and sang a song which summoned Mothra to fight the three-headed beast off by using her magic to bring the toys used in the film to life, successfully doing so.

Speech bubbles
Anguirus is capable of communicating using speech bubbles with his best friend Godzilla-kun, something they can uniquely do since they are best friends, though he also uses speech bubbles with his other friends Baragon and Gorosaurus.
Thought bubbles
On occasion, Anguirus's thoughts appear in visible thought bubbles such as in the special episode "Film the Dream!" in which Anguirus dreams about sharing a bowl of fruit with Godzilla-kun.
Anguirus Ball
When he fell from the cliff, Anguirus accidently curled up into a ball and rolled towards the Three Godzilla Brothers, with them having to evade him so they weren't flattened. This happened once again when he tried to climb the cliff a second time, rolling until he disappeared into the distance. Anguirus is later seen practicing his rolling, showing it is also something he can choose to do, and he then uses the ability to pave over a hole Gigan had fallen into in order to imprison the monster.
Flight
When dressed as a reindeer as part of Grandpa Zilla's sleigh so he could deliver presents to kids who like monsters, Anguirus and Baragon were able to fly through the air much like Santa Claus's Reindeer in the traditional Christmas stories.
Weaknesses
Anguirus was helpless when Gigan stabbed him in the side and lifted him into the air though he was able to later recover when the cyborg left and Anguirus went to alert Godzilla-kun to the threat. Anguirus was similarly helpless against Monster Zero when he attacked Anguirus and his friends at the film premiere but stood relatively more chance against the beast other times they battled.

Trivia
- This Anguirus references other incarnations of the character on a few occasions:
- His ability to speak to Godzilla-kun using speech bubbles in episode 5, "Secret Training Dojo", is a reference to the original Japanese version of Godzilla vs. Gigan (1972) in which Godzilla and Anguirus speak to each other using speech bubbles. This had been requested by viewer Our Anguirus.
- Anguirus rolling in a ball in episode 12, "Fly to the Cliff!", is a reference to Godzilla Final Wars (2004) in which Anguirus performs the move in order to attack enemies. This had been requested by Japanese YouTube user Tacky (タッキー).
- An image of Anguirus is used to represent the videos section on the official Godziban website.
