Kaiju No. 10 (怪獣１０号 Kaijū Jū-gō) is a major antagonist in 2024 animated series Kaiju No. 8. He commanded an army of Preondactyls to raid the Japan Anti-Kaiju Defense Force's Tachikawa Base. He then engaged in a lengthy battle with Soshiro Hoshina but was later defeated by Mina Ashiro using her T-25101985 cannon. Despite his defeat, he ordered the Preondactyls to make a large bomb using themselves as explosives, though the bomb was punched away by Kaiju No. 8.
Design
Kaiju No. 10 is humanoid in appearance with monstrous features. He is red in color with magenta glowing highlights, and his body is segmented and muscular with a small core-like gap on his chest. He sports a long skeletal tail with several rectangular spines and sharp, bird-like talons on his feet. A long, pointed horn protrudes from No. 10's head, as well as spines running down its back. His face features a fanged cross-shaped eye slit that occasionally opens to reveal a single glowing blue eye at his center. Kaiju No. 10 has flat, humanoid teeth with a second row of smaller fangs lining his mouth.
In its giant form, Kaiju No. 10's segmented parts are sealed and his body is more muscular in appearance. His tail is longer and thinner and his face is replaced by six fanged flaps with his eye in the center of his mouth. No. 10 sports several violet curved spines on his shoulders and back. His feet also become more reptilian and his horn becomes larger with several smaller pointed ends resembling that of a Rhinoceros beetle's.
History

"Welcome to the Defense Force"
As Kaiju No. 10 rode on the back of a Preondactyl, he ordered several other of the creatures to initiate descent on the Defense Force's Tachikawa Base.
"Raid on Tachikawa Base"
After the Kaiju's descent on the base, Kaiju No. 10 approached Soshiro Hoshina and his platoon beside two Preondactyls. Upon seeing Hoshina, No. 10 proclaimed that his target was sighted. He then asked Hoshina if he was the strongest human on the base, to which Hoshina confirmed due to Mina Ashiro's absence. No. 10 said he understood and labeled Hoshina his prey. Konomi Okonogi then read No. 10's Fortitude Level: 8.3, rendering him Daikaiju class. Kaiju No. 10 then flicked his finger at Hoshina, firing a powerful projectile at him. Hoshina dodged, the projectile hitting a building and destroying it. In response to Hoshina dodging his attack, No. 10 remarked that the former "passed." He dashed behind the vice-captain and attempted to punch him, but the latter dodged out of the way in time, causing No. 10 to hit the ground and send out a powerful shockwave. No. 10, impressed, opened his eye-slit to reveal a glowing blue eye before stating that it was time to begin the Defense Force's annihilation. He roared out into the sky, ordering the Preondactyls to attack the Defense Force soldiers. No. 10 dashed forward once more and attempted to punch Hoshina, but missed again, destroying the ground. Hoshina noted that Kaiju No. 10's punches were akin to meteor strikes and that a single solid strike from them would be enough to kill him. No. 10 threw more punches at Hoshina, but they were dodged and then blocked with his SW-2033 swords. Hoshina noted that the Kaiju's skin was tougher than that of Kaiju No. 8's.
Later on during the raid, Soshiro Hoshina began heading to the Secondary Selection Exam battleground while dodging Kaiju No. 10's attacks. No. 10 leaped forward and attempted to strike Hoshina, but crushed a truck instead. No. 10 rushed forward again, attacking Hoshina with his fists. Hoshina blocked the attacks with his swords but ducked as No. 10 suddenly launched several projectiles at him. The Kaiju ran at the vice-captain and threw a powerful kick, knocking away a large cargo container. Hoshina realized that Kaiju No. 10 was enjoying the fight and ordered Okonogi to open the gate the exam battleground. After it was opened, Hoshina dashed inside, noting that Kaiju are not supposed to feel emotions such as fun.
The monster then leaped onto the gate and crushed it as he clung to it, annoying Hoshina. No. 10 suddenly leaped onto another building and told Hoshina that not even other Kaiju are able to fight him as he has. He expressed his desire to eat Hoshina in order to gain his strength before rushing forward and punching the soldier's sword, sending him flying. However, the Kaiju's arm dropped to the ground, revealed to have been quickly severed by Hoshina. Kaiju No. 10 commended his opponent, stating that he was very strong. Despite having been knocked away, Hoshina pulsated with electricity as he began to fully unleash his combat power, intriguing No. 10.
Hoshina confidently told the creature that he had picked the wrong fight, and that the Defense Force would win. The two then charged forward at each other, with the vice-captain slashing No. 10's chest and drawing blood. No. 10 noted that it was the same attack Hoshina had used to slice off his arm a moment ago. He attempted to punch his foe again but missed before he was slashed in his arm and leg. The Kaiju realized that Hoshina was slashing through the gaps in his exoskeleton, annoying him. Assuming he knew where his opponent would slice him next, the creature sealed the gaps in his exoskeleton and tried to strike Hoshina, only to be met with a cross-slash to his chest, drawing blood and splitting his body apart. The monster tried to retaliate with a punch, but the Defense Force officer sliced off his arm and then cut apart his body. As No. 10 realized that aiming for his gaps was simply a distraction, his opponent sliced his neck, leaving his head dangling.
Kaiju No. 10 suddenly expressed excitement, proclaiming that this is how fights should be. He soon healed all his wounds before swinging his fists at his foe again while the latter continued to block them with his weapons. No. 10 spoke enthusiastically about the prospect of finally having an opponent that matched his own strength, eagerly referring to him as a rival. Kaiju No. 10 threw another punch, but his arm was sliced into pieces by the swordsman, and his core exposed. No. 10 took notice before Hoshina leaped down and sliced through his body again, seemingly defeating him.
However, No. 10's body began to expand and grow, with bumps covering the monster, with Hoshina noting that he was unable to kill him due to his core shifting positions. The Kaiju soon grew much larger in size before the bumps covering his body sprouted mouths and fired out high-temperature steam, covering the entire training area. As the steam cleared, Kaiju No. 10 was shown to have grown in size and altered his appearance. Okonogi announced that his Fortitude Level grew to 9.0. The now-giant No. 10 opened his mouth and roared loudly at Hoshina.
"Secret Revealed"
After Kaiju No. 10 grew in size, Konomi Okonogi stated that Soshiro Hoshina would have trouble combating the Kaiju by himself. No. 10 roared before throwing his fist at Hoshina, missing and crushing the ground below. Hoshina then ran up No. 10's arm and slashed his chest, drawing blood. The swordsman then leaped off a building and slashed the Kaiju's leg before slicing his chest again. No. 10 roared and swung at Hoshina again, proclaiming that his speed would not save him. Hoshina jumped up and attempted to slash No. 10's eye, but the latter blocked his attack by closing his mouth flaps, throwing the vice-captain. Hoshina attempted to cut through No. 10's foot but was unable to due to his thicker exoskeleton. No. 10 moved his hand towards Hoshina, ordering several Preondactyls to fly at him and explode, creating a smokescreen. No. 10 looked around for Hoshina before the latter jumped off a nearby building and attempted to slash him, only for the monster to sprout several eyes on his back and punch him away. Kaiju No. 10 demolished nearby buildings before focusing his attention on Hoshina again, who approached him. No. 10 raised his fist and slammed it down, missing his target. Hoshina then slashed No. 10's head with his swords, though the monster quickly healed his wounds. He slammed his fist down again, causing the swordsman to dodge out of the way. No. 10 then said that he now understood that Hoshina was unable to defeat him with his swords, sending another Preondactyl after him. As Hoshina ran, the wyvern-type Kaiju exploded, sending him flying forward. No. 10 swung his fist, but Hoshina ran up his arm again, and then delivered a cross-slash to the Kaiju's chest, injuring him. The swordsman sliced the monster's neck before slashing his arm. Just as Hoshina prepared to use his swords again, Kaiju No. 10 caught him in his grasp. The monster growled and began to slowly squeeze Hoshina with his hand.
Suddenly, Soshiro Hoshina told No. 10 that he won the fight before large blasts were fired at the Kaiju, severing his arm and letting Hoshina free. No. 10 roared in anger and turned to see Mina Ashiro, now having arrived at the base, firing her T-25101985 cannon at him. Mina fired her cannon again at the beast's other arm, severing it. No. 10 sent a Preondactyl at Mina to explode, but the Defense Force captain managed to escape the blast. No. 10 quickly regenerated his limbs before Okonogi alerted Mina of the location of the Kaiju's core, being around his fourth to sixth thoracic vertebrae. Soshiro Hoshina ran at the Kaiju and sliced his foot, then his leg, which No. 10 quickly healed. Suddenly, Kikoru Shinomiya arrived at the scene and hit the Kaiju's leg with her axe, though was unable to injure it. Hoshina then slashed No. 10's leg, giving Kikoru an opening to use her axe. Kikoru promptly swung her axe at the exposed wound, causing the monster to roar in pain and drop to one knee. While No. 10 was distracted, Mina fired her cannon at his back, exposing his core. Kaiju No. 10 got to his feet as Defense Force officers fired their rifles at it. Hoshina leaped into the air and was attacked by No. 10, but the giant monster missed. The vice-captain ran across the beats's arm and began slashing at various points across his body. No. 10 attempted to stop Hoshina with his fist and tail to no avail. Several Defense Force soldiers continued firing at Kaiju No. 10 while Hoshina still kept slashing at his body. When midair, No. 10 opened his jaws and attempted to eat the Hoshina, but was distracted by Mina Ashiro, who unleashed her full combat power. No. 10 turned to her while Hoshina remarked that he had chosen the wrong people to "mess with." Mina then fired the bullet at No. 10's back, exploding his body and breaking him apart. Just before he fell, he let out one final roar.
After the Defense Force members noticed the large Yoju bomb above the base, Hoshina realized that Kaiju No. 10 had given them another order just as he was defeated. Still alive, No. 10's severed head spoke to Hoshina, telling him that the fight would end in a draw.
Abilities
Physical capabilities
Kaiju No. 10 possesses immense strength. His punches were compared to meteor strikes by Soshiro Hoshina, stating that if a solid hit from one of them were landed on him, he would be dead. The punches can also send out powerful shockwaves capable of destroying buildings and shattering their windows. A single of No. 10's punches was able to crush an entire truck, with a kick from the Kaiju sending a cargo holder flying. No. 10 was able to willingly seal the gaps in his exoskeleton to better protect himself.
When in his giant form, No. 10's strength increased exponentially, with his punches able to destroy entire buildings. He was also shown to use his tail and jaws for combat against Hoshina.
Durability
Kaiju No. 10 is extremely durable as a result of his strong exoskeleton. Slashes from Soshiro Hoshina's SW-2033 swords were unable to penetrate the Kaiju's skin.
After being defeated, Kaiju No. 10 was shown to still be alive, despite having been severed from the rest of his body.
Finger projectile
Much like Kaiju No. 9, Kaiju No. 10 is able to fire projectiles from his fingers, though this is done by flicking his fingers instead. These projectiles were shown to crack buildings and bore through the metal frame of a cargo holder. No. 10 can seemingly fire several of these projectiles at once.
Size changing
Kaiju No. 10 can alter his size to grow much larger, increasing his strength and altering his appearance.
Weaknesses
Though slashes from Soshiro Hoshina's swords were unable to penetrate No. 10's armor-like exoskeleton, Hoshina was able to cut through the gaps in his body, drawing blood and injuring the monster. Hoshina exploited this weakness to sever his limbs and slice apart his body, at one point exposing his core. Kaiju No. 10 can be killed if his core is destroyed, much like other Kaiju.
When in his giant form, Hoshina was able to draw blood much more easily with his swords. No. 10 was also shown to be injured by Kikoru's axe when his wounds were left exposed. Kaiju No. 10 was ultimately defeated by Mina Ashiro firing her cannon at him several times.
