"First Date Butterflies" (デートはドキドキ Dēto wa Dokidoki, lit. "Dates Are Exciting") is the 54th episode of Chibi Godzilla Raids Again and the 41st of its second season. Written by Taketo Shinkai and Yuki Hirokawa, it aired on Japanese television on January 8, 2025. An English-subtitled version was released on the GODZILLA OFFICIAL by TOHO YouTube channel on that February 19.
Plot
Chibi Mothra waits for Chibi Mechagodzilla, asking herself that if the two of them hanging out alone means it counts as a date. She wonders if they'll hold hands before getting anxious due to them still being little monsters. Chibi Mechagodzilla arrives and apologizes for being late, and Chibi Mothra snaps at him that they're still just little monsters, confusing him. She apologizes and says she'll take him to her favorite spots before reminding him they're still little monsters.
Chibi Mothra takes Chibi Mechagodzilla to Chibi Biollante's snack bar first, where they meet Chibi Godzilla. Chibi Mechagodzilla says Chibi Mothra's showing him around the island, which Chibi Godzilla says sounds fun and asks to join them. Chibi Mothra immediately shoots him down, while Chibi Biollante tells him he's clearly not welcome and that they're obviously about to duel, which Chibi Godzilla wants to watch. Chibi Mothra gets mad and leaves with Chibi Mechagodzilla.
Next, she brings him to Chibi Gabara's restaurant, which Chibi Mothra says is "pretty chill" before being interrupted by Chibi Rodan divebombing into his seat. Chibi Godzilla and Chibi Anguirus sit across from him, the former impatiently waiting for his food and the latter fighting with Chibi Rodan. Chibi Godzilla explains the situation to Chibi Mechagodzilla, who asks Chibi Gabara how he could just stand there and watch the chaos. Chibi Godzilla asks Chibi Mechagodzilla when his duel with Chibi Mothra is going to happen so he can watch. Chibi Gabara suddenly moves and says he wants to see the duel too.
Moving on, Chibi Mothra brings Chibi Mechagodzilla to the mountains to her favorite stargazing spot, with Chibi Mechagodzilla revealing that he has never been there at night before. Chibi Mechagodzilla asks her why she wanted to hang out with him, and she tells him she wanted to give him a "pick-me-up" due to him feeling sad ever since Chibi Gigan revealed Chibi Mechagodzilla's true purpose. Chibi Mechagodzilla thanks her and they both sit down, watching the stars. Chibi Mothra tells him she goes to the spot every winter. Chibi Godzilla suddenly appears, asking about the duel, but Chibi Mechagodzilla and Chibi Mothra ignore him and promise they'll come to the spot every year together. Chibi Godzilla pleads for someone to duel him.
